Small groups. Stronger swimmers.
Level-based group lessons with no more than three swimmers per instructor. More turns, more individual feedback, and a clearer path from water confidence to stronger strokes.

The benefits of a true 3:1 maximum
Small groups combine individual attention with the confidence and motivation that children can gain from learning beside other swimmers.
More active practice
With only three swimmers, children spend less time waiting and get more purposeful turns.
Individual feedback
The instructor can observe each swimmer closely and provide specific corrections throughout the lesson.
Positive peer learning
Swimmers can watch others practice, celebrate progress, and build comfort without a crowded class.
Clear progression
Four skill-based levels help swimmers practice the right foundations before moving to harder skills.
Small group does not mean one-size-fits-all
Swimmers share a general level, but instruction is adjusted within the class. The instructor can simplify, reinforce, or extend a skill based on what each child can perform safely and independently.

Skill-based placement

A package and a level are not the same thing
Enrollment covers the lessons listed for your selected class. It does not guarantee completion of an entire level. Advancement happens when a swimmer performs the important skills consistently, safely, and independently.
What families ask most
Every group class has a maximum of three swimmers per instructor. The smaller format allows for more turns, closer observation, and more individual feedback.
Choose the level based on the skills your swimmer can perform safely and independently today. The level finder above offers a starting point, and each level page lists more detailed placement skills.
No. Ages are useful guides, but current ability, confidence, maturity, and safe group participation also affect placement. Skill readiness matters more than choosing a level by age alone.
Not necessarily. A session includes scheduled lessons, while a level is a progression of skills. Some swimmers advance after one package, while others benefit from more time and repetition.
Use the finder and level pages as your starting point. If another group is more appropriate after your swimmer is observed, we can recommend an adjustment based on skill fit and available space.
Group lessons are 30 minutes and meet once each week at the same registered day and time.
One absence may be made up in another class with available space. A weather-related closure does not count as that absence.
Lessons are held in the heated indoor pool at Pierce Country Day Camp, 37 Mineola Ave, Roslyn, NY 11576.
Bring a swimsuit and towel. Goggles are optional unless a specific need has been discussed. Long hair should be secured away from the face.
