Water Confidence Starts Here

Level 1 helps new and cautious swimmers become comfortable without a parent in the water. Lessons build safe habits, breath control, floating, balance, and the first steps toward independent swimming.

Is Level 1 the right class?

Choose Level 1 based on what your swimmer can do independently today, not the highest skill they have tried once.

✓ Has little or no formal swim lesson experience

✓ Is uncomfortable putting their face in the water

✓ Needs hands-on help to float or move through the water

✓ Cannot yet swim a short distance independently

✓ Can separate from a caregiver and follow simple safety directions

Four foundations for safer, independent swimming

Every activity has a purpose, with skills introduced gradually and support reduced as confidence grows.

Comfort & Breathing

Blowing bubbles, exhaling in the water, and becoming comfortable putting the face and head underwater.

Floating & Recovery

Front and back floating with gradually reduced support, followed by safely recovering to a standing position.

Gliding & Kicking

Streamlined body position, short glides, beginning flutter kicks, and the first steps toward forward movement.

Wall & Exit Safety

Safe pool entry, turning toward the wall, reaching and holding the wall, and exiting with increasing independence.

Are You Ready for Level 2?

Swimmers advance when they can demonstrate the important skills consistently and with little or no physical assistance.

Submerge comfortably and exhale underwater

Float independently on the front and back for about five seconds

Glide and kick approximately five yards with a stable body position

Enter the water, orient toward the wall, and return safely

Follow group safety directions without repeated hands-on redirection

Confidence grows from the right kind of practice

Safety in Every Skill

Safe entry, wall recovery, floating, and exiting are reinforced throughout each lesson.

Confidence Without Pressure

Swimmers are encouraged through predictable routines and gradual challenges, never forced.

Small Groups

A maximum 3:1 ratio creates more turns, more feedback, and less waiting.

Mastery Before Moving Up

Advancement is based on consistent independent skills, not simply finishing a package.

Questions parents ask before registering

That does not automatically mean lessons are a poor fit. New surroundings, separation, and water on the face can take time. Instructors use predictable routines and gradual challenges. Skills are encouraged, not forced.

Goggles are optional. They can make practice more comfortable, but swimmers should also have occasional, instructor-guided experience getting their face wet without goggles.

Possibly, but it is not guaranteed. A level represents a group of skills, not a fixed number of lessons. Some swimmers need additional time to develop comfort and independence.

Contact us before registering. We will consider ability, size, maturity, and available groupings. Private instruction may be recommended when an older beginner would not be comfortable in a younger class.

The instructor will evaluate the swimmer in the water. If another level is more appropriate, the team will recommend the best available adjustment based on skill, age, and open class space.

No. Lessons can improve swimming ability and water-safety skills, but they do not eliminate drowning risk. Children still require close, capable adult supervision and appropriate layers of protection around every body of water.
