Independence Starts Here

Level 2 connects floating, gliding, and kicking into purposeful movement. Swimmers begin coordinating their arms and legs on the front and back while developing greater control and independence.

Is Level 2 the right class?

Level 2 is for swimmers who already have basic water comfort and can perform foundational skills independently.

✓ Puts their face in the water and exhales comfortably

✓ Floats independently on the front and back

✓ Recovers from a float without panic

✓ Glides and kicks approximately five yards

✓ Follows directions safely in a small group

Four building blocks of independent swimming

Level 2 turns separate beginner skills into controlled movement across the water.

Body Position & Kicking

Streamlined body position, stronger flutter kicks, and independent movement on both the front and back.

Freestyle Foundations

Alternating arm action, rhythmic exhalation, and the early mechanics of turning to the side for air.

Backstroke & Recovery

Stable backstroke body position, coordinated kicking and arm action, and rolling between the front and back.

Deep-Water Safety

Sculling, treading, safe entries, orientation, wall recovery, and independent exit as readiness develops.

Are You Ready for Level 3?

Swimmers advance when they can combine their skills with control, comfort, and enough endurance for formal stroke development.

Swim 10 to 15 yards on the front using coordinated arms and kicks

Swim 10 to 15 yards on the back with a stable body position

Roll between the front and back and regain a float independently

Tread or scull for approximately 30 seconds

Enter deeper water, orient toward the wall, and exit safely

Confidence grows from the right kind of practice

Safety in Every Skill

Safe entry, wall recovery, floating, and exiting are reinforced throughout each lesson.

Confidence Without Pressure

Swimmers are encouraged through predictable routines and gradual challenges, never forced.

Small Groups

A maximum 3:1 ratio creates more turns, more feedback, and less waiting.

Mastery Before Moving Up

Advancement is based on consistent independent skills, not simply finishing a package.

Questions parents ask before registering

Yes, but it is for swimmers who already have basic water comfort and independent floating skills. The focus shifts from isolated skills to continuous independent movement.

No. Rhythmic breathing and the early mechanics of turning for air are introduced in Level 2 and developed more fully in Level 3.

They may still need Level 1 or an instructor assessment. Back floating and recovery are important safety foundations and should not be skipped simply because a child can move forward.

Deeper-water skills are introduced gradually and only when the instructor determines that the swimmer is ready. Safe entry, orientation, floating, wall recovery, and exit remain part of the progression.

Possibly, but it is not guaranteed. A level represents a group of skills, not a fixed number of lessons. Coordinating strokes and breathing often requires repetition across more than one package.

The instructor will evaluate the swimmer in the water. If another level is more appropriate, the team will recommend the best available adjustment based on skill, age, and open class space.
