Swim Lessons Near East Hills: Your Child's First Visit

A first swim lesson has two separate challenges: finding the right place and helping the swimmer understand what will happen. East Hills families attend Swim Lessons LI at the indoor Aqua Dome at Pierce Country Day Camp, 37 Mineola Avenue, Roslyn, NY 11576. Prepare for both parts before the first class.

Explain the visit in a short sequence

A simple explanation is often more useful than a performance promise: we will park, get ready, meet the teacher and practice in the pool. Tell the child which adult is coming and whether that adult will enter the water. Parent & Tot includes a participating adult; an independent group class is a different format.

Share details the teacher can use

If the child has taken lessons, describe what they practiced. If something feels difficult, explain what you have observed. A child who dislikes water near their face may have a different concern from one who is unsure about a new teacher. Avoid promising a specific milestone, such as swimming underwater on the first day.

Find the entrance before you need it

The pool is on a camp campus, so the street address is only the first part of the arrival plan. The location guide includes parking choices, the pedestrian gate and the walk to the Aqua Dome. Allow 10 to 15 minutes after arrival for getting ready. Follow signs and staff directions as you move through the campus and pool area.

Keep the first-day expectations manageable

Learning the routine, listening to instructions and trying a supported activity can be useful steps. Ask the instructor what the swimmer worked on and what the next priority is. You will get more useful feedback from that conversation than from judging the entire program by a single unfamiliar visit.

Small-group classes are limited to three swimmers per instructor, and private instruction is available. A responsible adult must stay at the facility for swimmers under 18. Check current availability and registration details, or call or text (516) 405-0676 before booking.
